About Tomb Raider (OpenLara)

Play Tomb Raider (OpenLara) free in your browser. No download, no install: it opens on xproger.github.io in a new tab.

OpenLara is an open-source rewrite of the engine behind the first Tomb Raider, written by XProger. Lara's grid-based movement, ledge grabs and dual pistols work the way they did in 1996, with smoother rendering on top.

The WebGL build starts from the Tomb Raider title screen with no download. Its page also has a Browse Level button for loading a level file of your own, but you do not need one to start.

How to play Tomb Raider (OpenLara)

  1. Press Play. The OpenLara page opens in a new tab.
  2. Wait for the title screen, then pick a menu option with the arrow keys and Enter.
  3. The Browse Level button is optional; skip it to play what the page loads.

Core keys only; OpenLara lists and changes the rest of the classic layout in its in-game options.

Tips

  • Classic Tomb Raider moves on a grid: line up with a ledge before jumping.
  • Walk to the edge first, then jump, to avoid falling short.
